September 13, 2006 - Interactive Neighborhood for Kids Announces
5th Annual Scarecrow on the Square

Gainesville, GA… It’s that time of year again! Scarecrows of all sizes, shapes and styles will converge on the square in Downtown Gainesville on Thursday, October 267h through Tuesday, October 31st. Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK) is “calling all crows” for their fifth annual “Scarecrow on the Square” event to benefit INK, Gainesville’s only children’s museum.

“It’s all about fun, creativity, and originality,” says Marketing Director, Dana Miller. “The event is a great way for children, families and local businesses to enjoy the outdoors while they explore many original themed based scarecrows,” Miller continued.

INK’s goal is to provide a pleasing community experience for all commerce, contributors and spectators. “I continue to be amazed at how inventive and artistic our community is - we look forward to being a part of this worthwhile community undertaking every year,” explains Daddy’s Money co-owner, Ellie Spence. Spence continued, “We love to watch the faces of children and families light-up when they see the amazing (and sometimes funny) scarecrows.”

Scarecrow on the Square is also the highlight of the annual Trick or Treat on the Square. More than 40 merchants will greet thousands of costumed children and parents with candy and treats for the 10th annual Trick or Treat on the Square in Downtown Gainesville. The exciting event will take place on Tuesday, October 31st from 3:00-5:00 pm. In addition, a moon walk, face painting and train ride will take place in the center of the Square.

Scarecrow participants will compete in three categories: Family, School and Business. First, second and third place winners will be selected by a panel of independent judges in each group. Limited space is available. A $30 entry fee is required. Most nonprofit fees will be waived due to the generosity of individuals and corporate sponsorships. Entry deadline is Friday, October 20, 2006. Event is free to the public. Participants are invited to call Mandy Shepherd at INK for information, contest rules or to register a scarecrow at 770-536-1900.

INK is located in the Featherbone Center on 999 Chestnut Street. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 10:00-5:00. Admission is $6 per person - under age 2 is free. INK-founded in August of 2002 strives, through the exhibits, to create a unique environment in which children of all ages, abilities, and experience can feel free to imagine, create, and explore beyond their dreams. Interactive Neighborhood for Kids makes every effort to provide exhibits and programs that stimulate curiosity and motivate learning.
