VISION 2030

Wednesday November 04, 2015 -

The VISION 2030 Healthcare Consortium is a group of healthcare leaders gathering Hall County data on some of the top health indicators. This group is working toward community health improvement on the local level using meaningful and specific data as well as ongoing communication.

Recently, Community Heath Snapshots were published to expose definitive obesity in both Hall County’s adults and children. (Read the complete report online at Vision2030.org.) The report states that 75-80% of adults and 36% of our children are now clinically obese.

Inspired to work together towards a healthy community, stronger workforce, exceptional quality of live and a thriving economy, the Chamber's Healthcare Consortium is bringing nationally recognized Dan Buettner, a National Geographic Fellow, to Hall County for a community event on April 21, 2016. Dr. Buettner is a New York Times best selling author and has delivered more than 3,000 speeches to audiences world wide. His presentation "How to live to be 100+" has been viewed over two million times. He has been featured twice on Oprah and has received an Emmy award for television production. Buettner has traveled the globe to uncover the best strategies for longevity and happiness. He identifies Blue Zones (bluezones.com) as places that have the greatest life expectancy. In 2009, Dan and his partner, AARP, applied principles of The Blue Zones to Albert Lea, Minnesota and successfully raised life expectancy and lowered health care costs by some 40%. He’s currently working with Healthways to implement the Blue Zones Project in 17 cities throughout America.
